The people are getting grounded with work. And the only respite is that they have the finance for proper homes. They use their resources to make their home as comfortable as they may afford. The things they buy will only be assets. The one area which takes some dimension is the living room. A wonderful wooden bed spank in the middle gives you good sleep and a reason to work. You spend a good portion of your life on the bed and share the material comfort with your spouse. In all events, the bed takes priority.
If you have a terrace, the furniture over there shows your taste. The look may be minimal but effective. It is an area of relaxation. That feeling should come forth. Even the study (though now they are largely done without) needs a comfortable chair and adjustable shelves. You read there and the environment should enhance your mood.
